Educational Visit to Public Prosecutor's Office and District Court

On Tuesday 30 th May 2017, the TUFS Center for Multilingual Multicultural Education and Research paid an educational visit to the Tokyo District Public Prosecutor's Office and Tokyo District Court, which included a viewing of the interview rooms and attending a trial. This visit was carried out after attendees at a lecture on how to work with interpreters, given by the Tokyo District Public Prosecutor's Office at TUFS in the 2016 school year, expressed a desire to see the office.
A group of 11 Language and Cultural Supporters* from TUFS including graduates, graduate school students, and teaching staff took part in the visit. At the Tokyo District Public Prosecutor's Office, after hearing details on the work of a prosecution interpreter, the group was allowed a viewing of the interview rooms, the experience of a police interview, a visit to the exhibition room of judicial records, and opportunity to ask questions to the public prosecutor. Afterwards, the group were allowed to attend a trial at the Tokyo District Court.
This visit was carried out as part of the cooperation and collaboration agreement formed by the Tokyo District Public Prosecutor's Office and TUFS Center for Multilingual Multicultural Education and Research in March 2017.
*The Language and Cultural Supporters are a group including of TUFS graduates, graduate school students (including regular international students), and as of the end of May 2017 103 are registered.
