TUFS Booth at TICAD V
July 4, 2013
TUFS ran a booth at the 5th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD V), which took place in Yokohama from June 1st to the 3rd. TICAD is a summit meeting on African development co-organized by the Government of Japan, the United Nations and the World Bank, among others, and has been held every five years since 1993.
The booth dispatched information about African Area Studies at TUFS, focusing on the new African Area Studies Course organized last year and the introduction of the Research Institute for Languages and Cultures of Asia and Africa. Also displayed was a panel about a lecture delivered by Southern African nations’ embassies to Japan last year. Among the attendees were representatives of international organizations and governments from 51 African nations - including 39 heads of state. Many of these delegates showed great interest in TUFS’ booth.
At every opportunity TUFS will continue to share social and cultural information on countries around the world both within and outside Japan.
