Srijato Bandyopadhyay (India)

Srijato Bandyopadhyay, popularly known as ‘Srijato’ was born on 21st December, 1975 in a family of musicians which has roots in the Hindustani Classical traditions. His first book Sesh Cithi (The Last Letter) was published in 1999, and currently he is the author of more than 20 books of modern Bengali poetry. He has received many awards including the Ananda Puraskar, Bangla Academy Puraskar as well as the Filmfare East Award for the best lyricist.

Sajjad Sharif (Bangladesh)

Sajjad Sharif was born on September 24, 1963 in Dhaka. It was in the 1980s that he emerged as a poet in Bangladesh and his first poetry book, Churi Cikitsa (Treatment of Knife) was published in 2006. He jointly edited a collection of Bangladesh's selected poems, Bangladesher Shrestha Kabita (2009) which was published in India. He is a journalist by profession, and at present he is the managing editor of Bangladesh's largest newspaper Prothom Alo.
