Lecture held to commemorate the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and Laos

On Tuesday, June 24, 2025, a presentation titled ��Lecture by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to Commemorate the 70th Anniversary of Japan-Laos Diplomatic Relations�� was held in Room 211 of the Research and Lecture Building at TUFS.
This lecture was organized jointly by the First Southeast Asia Division, Southeast and Southwest Asian Affairs Department, Asian and Oceanian Affairs Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan and the TUFS Lao Language Major Department, and one of the official 70th anniversary commemorative events between the two governments.

On the day of the event, two diplomats from the First Southeast Asia Division, Southeast and Southwest Asian Affairs Department, Asian and Oceanian Affairs Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, Mr. Koji Yoshida and Ms. Tomomi Kotoda, and a TUFS graduate who is currently working as a diplomat in the same division, visited TUFS and gave lectures from their respective professional perspectives.

Mr. Yoshida spoke on the topic ��Japan's Diplomacy and Japan-Laos Relations,�� while Ms. Kotoda presented on ��Life in Laos.�� They shared insights into the operations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the role of diplomats, their experiences in Laos, and the current social conditions in Laos.

First- to fourth-year students majoring in Lao language and Laotian students participated in the event and listened intently to the lectures. The questionnaire after the lecture also showed a high level of interest in the role of diplomats and the cooperative relationship between Japan and Laos. For the students, it was a valuable opportunity to hear directly from experts active in the field of diplomacy.

This lecture series, as part of efforts to deepen mutual understanding and friendly relations between Japan and Laos, provided significant insights for students' future learning and the expansion of their international perspectives.
