TUFS, Insititute of Science Tokyo, Hitotsubashi Univ., and Ochanomizu Univ. Sign New Agreement

On Tuesday, July 1, 2025, the Union of Three-Universities in Tokyo* (consisting of Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, Institute of Science Tokyo, and Hitotsubashi University) added Ochanomizu University as a new member and signed a new agreement as the Future Leading Innovation Partnership (FLIP).
The signing ceremony took place at the Suzuki Akira Hall on the 2nd floor of the MD Tower at the Institute of Science Tokyo's Yushima Campus, with the Presidents and Executive Directors of each university in attendance.
The FLIP consortium will strive to enhance its role as a hub of knowledge in Tokyo, one of the world's leading academic cities, by welcoming a new partner. It will serve as a core for collaboration that connects knowledge from Tokyo to the world, innovate education to nurture human resources with deep expertise and broad perspectives, and contribute to the sustainable development of human society through the deepening of research through the fusion of knowledge across fields.

*Union of Three-Universities in Tokyo: Established in March 2001 as the “Union of Four-Universities in Tokyo” with the fundamental philosophy of establishing a research and education system capable of withstanding a truly globalized society. In October 2024, following the merger of Tokyo Medical and Dental University and Tokyo Institute of Technology to form Tokyo Science University, the alliance was reorganized into the Union of Three-Universities in Tokyo. With the signing of this new agreement, we have become the Future Leading Innovation Partnership (FLIP).
