December 19, 2024

On Saturday, December 7th, 2024, an Afghan Film Special “Wolf and Sheep” was screened by TUFS Cinema at the Agora Global Prometheus Hall.

Set in a village area in central Afghanistan, the film focuses on the children who live there, and depicts various aspects of local traditions, customs and lifestyles. Based on the experiences of the spirited female director Shahrbano Sadat, who actually lived in the village for several years, the film focuses on the everyday lives of ordinary people living in Afghan villages, and is a groundbreaking work that also allows us to think about the country's society and communities.

After the screening, Professor Masato Toriya, a lecturer at our university, gave a talk on the historical background of the Hazara, an ethnic group that makes up a large part of the population of central Afghanistan, and the various customs and historical background of the Afghan village society that appear in the film. This was followed by a lively exchange of questions and answers, with the audience asking many questions about the content of the film and related matters.

The screening was attended by over 180 people from both inside and outside the university, making it a successful first screening in the Afghan film series.
