Japanese Culture Experience and International Evening held at TUFS
December 18, 2024
On Friday, December 13th, 2024, a Japanese Culture Experience and International Evening was held for international students at our university (co-hosted by the International Student Support Association and the Student Exchange Division).
Many international students took part in the Japanese Culture Experience which included workshops on traditional Japanese culture and pastimes such as kimono dressing, tea ceremony, ikebana flower arrangement, calligraphy, origami, and furoshiki wrapping.
The International Exchange Evening that followed was attended by international students, as well as current Japanese students who act as buddies and tutors for international students, and people from local exchange groups. After an opening speech of encouragement and expectations for the international students from Vice President Haruna, the party got underway with a toast from Mr. Tani, the president of the International Student Support Association.
In the second half, there was a lively exchange of introductions, including a student performance (Sinhala song) by international students, as well as introductions to the International Education Support Office, ELC, International Student Support Association, and TUFCOMMU.
