TUFS selected for the Japan Science and Technology Agency “Support for Pioneering Research Initiated by the Next Generation”
December 17, 2024
TUFS has been selected for the “Challenging Research Program for Next-Generation Researchers” run by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST). The title of our university's project is ‘Multicultural Innovation and Research for Advanced Internationalization(MIRAI)’.
This program aims to develop leaders who can create new value in companies, local communities and international settings beyond academia, targeting students in the doctoral program. Based on multilingual communication skills and in-depth knowledge of culture and local communities, the program aims to develop practical skills that will enable students to build relationships of trust through co-creation with companies and society, and to generate solutions by combining diverse values and wisdom. In addition, in light of the progress of AI technology, the program also emphasizes the perspectives of ELSI (ethical, legal and social issues) and RRI (responsible research and innovation).
Specifically, we will provide a wide range of support centered on skill enhancement (transferable skills training, AI basics), practical field studies (consideration of issues faced by foreign residents living in Japan and regional issues), and employment and corporate support (corporate research and entrepreneurship education).
In this program, we will also provide financial support to participating students, creating an environment where they can focus on completing the program and developing their careers.
