International Education Support Office holds Diverse Dietary Restrictions in Japan Seminar
November 20, 2024
On Thursday, November 14, 2024, three international students attended the Diverse Dietary Restrictions in Japan Seminar held by the International Education Support Office.
Moving to a new country means getting used to the different ingredients available at the supermarket. Many of these ingredients may be unfamiliar, while ingredients that you are used to buying in your home country may be unavailable. Because of this, some international students struggle to find food options that you can eat in Japan, especially if they have dietary restrictions.
We invited Miwako Kishi, the owner of Miwa’s Japanese Cooking School (https://www.shinagawa-japanese-cooking.com/), to introduce basic information about common dietary restrictions, such as vegan, Halal, vegetarian, and gluten free, and to introduce recipes that can be made using ingredients which are easy to find in Japanese supermarkets.
