International co-educational classes with the University of Szczecin (Poland)
November 12, 2024
With financial support for international co-education classes with partner universities abroad, we invited Prof. Adrianna Seniów and Dr. Nina Pielacińska, who are involved in teaching Polish as a foreign language at the University of Szczecin, to our university for two weeks from October 25, 2024. In collaboration with the Polish language faculty at TUFS, the invited teachers participated as lecturers in classes offered in Polish and also provided study support to TUFS students as needed.
The main purpose of this program was to allow faculty members from partner institutions abroad to apply their experience in teaching to students whose native language is Japanese to their future teaching in Poland, and to improve their knowledge of lesson design by learning about the University's curriculum and teaching methods. In addition, the exchange of information on Polish teaching methods and curriculum will enable our faculty members to make use of this information in their future teaching at the University.
The students were also able to receive direct instruction from the invited professors for two weeks, and were able to increase their motivation to learn Polish and to study abroad in Poland. The diversity of the students' learning environment and new encounters with faculty members from partner institutions abroad provided a definite stimulus in fostering a multicultural awareness.
By promoting international co-curricular education classes that are beneficial to both sides, as described above, we can expect to further strengthen ties with our overseas partner institutions and achieve significant educational benefits for the future.
