On Friday, November 1st, 2024, we welcomed Ms. Rosemary DiCarlo, UN Under-Secretary-General, for a special lecture. This event was co-hosted by the Global Career Center and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and many students interested in international cooperation and careers in international organizations participated.
The lecture was held in a hybrid format in Room 227 on the second floor of the Research and Lecture Building, and around 150 people attended. Ms. DiCarlo gave a lecture on the theme of “Can the United Nations fulfill its role in times of turmoil?” and delved into the importance of international cooperation and the role of the United Nations. The event was moderated by Professor Hideo Shinoda, and the Q&A session was also very informative. For the second part of the event, a career seminar was held by a human resources representative from the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), who provided specific advice on building a career at an international organization.
Prior to the lecture, Ms. DiCarlo paid a courtesy visit to President Kayoko Hayashi, and had a friendly chat with Vice President Nobuo Haruna and Professor Shinoda.
