Joint Education Program with Partner University in Thailand
February 17, 2023
From Monday, February 13, 2023, a Joint Education Program with Associate Professor Sumittra Suraratdecha from Mahidol University, one of our partner universities in Thailand, was held as an intensive course in the winter semester.
The program is offered as part of the World Liberal Arts Program “Multicultural Society 1” and deals with community engagement in contemporary society for the preservation and revitalization of languages and cultures in danger of disappearing.
The program has been ongoing since 2019, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this is the first time it has been conducted face-to-face in three years.
In addition to lectures, students engage in independent learning on the issue of the decline and disappearance of traditional languages and cultures while also working on projects based on each participant’s own awareness of the problems.
On Wednesday, March 15, the students met with TUFS President Kayoko HAYASHI, Vice President Toshihide NAKAYAMA (in charge of research), Vice President Jun MATSUKUMA (in charge of international affairs), and others to exchange information and opinions on research exchange and possible joint research.
