Director of SOAS, University of London, Visits TUFS
December 1, 2022
On November 18, 2022, Professor Adam Habib, Director of the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) at the University of London, a TUFS partner institution, visited TUFS and met with Vice President for International Affairs Jun Matsukuma, Hiroyuki Yamaguchi, Dean of the School of Global Studies, Professor Hiroko Saito (Institute of Global Studies), Associate Professor Iris Haukamp (Institute of Japan Studies), and Associate Professor Daisuke Shinagawa (Research Institute for Languages and Cultures of Asia and Africa).
TUFS and SOAS are members of the Consortium for Asian and African Studies (CAAS), which was established in March 2007. The two universities have strengthened their ties in research and educational activities targeting the Asia-Africa region. In April of the same year, TUFS established an overseas office at SOAS to promote academic exchange between the two universities; in 2015, the office was renamed the Global Japan Office and has been active in student exchange and activities such as providing information on studying in Japan and introducing Japan.
In the meeting, the possibility of expanding exchanges between SOAS and TUFS and the development of new joint programs were discussed. Further strengthening of cooperation between the two universities is expected.
