TUFS President Delivers Keynote Address at the 2022 Japan-Mexico Rectors’ Summit

TUFS President Kayoko Hayashi delivered the keynote speech at the 2022 Japan-Mexico Rectors’ Summit, an exchange conference between Japanese and Mexican universities held at Sophia University on October 6 and 7, 2022.

The theme of the conference was “Global Risks and Universities,” with discussions focusing on the role of universities in the midst of the various global risks confronting society. Approximately 30 participants from 18 universities and institutions in Mexico and 50 participants from 24 universities and institutions in Japan gathered at the conference.

TUFS President Kayoko Hayashi’s speech was titled, “Opening up the Future through Exchanges Between Japan and Mexico.” She spoke of the new future that has been opened up through the collaboration of Mexican and Japanese universities during the pandemic, a collaboration based on the long history of exchanges between Japan and Mexico, the challenges Japanese universities are facing, the challenges universities around the world are facing, and what Japanese and Mexican universities have done to overcome them.

Following the lecture, Vice President for International Affairs Jun Matsukuma, Professor Ryoichi Kuno, Associate Professor Naoko Uchiyama, and Associate Professor Hiroto Uchihara participated in discussions with TUFS partner universities and other participants on how to further collaboration and exchange.
