Vice Chair and Faculty of Shanghai International Studies University Visit TUFS

July 8, 2019

On Tuesday, July 2, 2019, Professor QIAN Ling, Vice Chair of the University Council and two faculty members from SISU visited TUFS and met with Vice President MATSUKUMA Jun and Professor SAWADA Yukari (Institute of Global Studies).

Faculty members of SISU took the opportunity to visit TUFS, a partner institution, as they were in Tokyo to attend the 4th Conference of the Japan-China Federation of Universities for Humanistic Exchange.

SISU and TUFS signed a comprehensive partnership agreement and academic exchange agreement in 1985 and have since maintained close ties in Japanese language education as well as student exchange for over 30 years. Both universities are members of the Consortium for Asian and African Studies (CAAS), a cross-border cooperation system in Asian and African studies, and their cooperative relationship is very diverse. This year marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of Shanghai International Studies University, and President Kayoko Hayashi is scheduled to attend the commemorative ceremony in December.

During the meeting, activity reports on TUFS as a member of the Top Global University Project, and information on the Shanghai Academy of Global Governance and Area Studies (SAGGAS) established by SISU was exchanged. Furthermore, discussions were held on the topic of international relations and Japanese studies. This meeting served to acknowledge further development in cooperative relations between TUFS and SISU.
