TUFS Philippine Cultural Folk Dance Troupe performs at a community exchange event in Fuchu City
November 19, 2024
On Saturday, October 19th, 2024, the “Community Exchange Event - Philippine Folk Dance -” was held at the Fuchu City Welfare Center for Persons with Disabilities, and the TUFS Philippine Cultural Folk Dance Troupe performed. On the day, around 75 people of all ages from their teens to their seventies came to watch the performance.
The group performed eight songs. For each song, they carefully explained the meaning of the island, the tribe, and the dance, and introduced the culture and charm of the Philippines. The audience was captivated by the brightly colored costumes and the unique atmosphere of each dance, and the venue was filled with smiles and applause throughout. Usually, performances are 30 minutes long, but this time we also incorporated quizzes and Tinikling (bamboo dance) experiences to fill the one-hour event. It was a valuable experience that everyone from children to adults, including those with disabilities, could participate in.
In the visitor questionnaires, we received comments such as “I enjoyed the dances from a foreign country” and “I enjoyed it because I don't usually get to see dances like these”, and many people said “It was fun, it was good” when leaving.
