TUFS Kendo Club wins prize at Fuchu City Autumn Kendo Tournament

November 14, 2024

On Sunday, October 27, 2024, the 65th Fuchu City Autumn Sports Tournament was held at the Fuchu City Hiyoshi Gymnasium (Fuchu City, Tokyo), and the TUFS Kendo Club won third place in the general team competition.

Comment from Captain OKABE Kota (2nd year, School of International and Area Studies)

This year's Fuchu City Autumn Sports Tournament was affected by the House of Representatives election, and the general individual competition was cancelled, so several members of the club were unable to participate in the tournament. Even so, the general team competition was held as usual, and Team A was able to come third in the men's team competition. We were able to achieve one of our goals of “passing the baton to the next person”, and I feel that we gained more than we could have expected from the results.

At first, there were doubts about whether the tournament would even be held, but I would like to take this opportunity to thank the tournament organizers for their efforts to hold the tournament in spite of this.

From now on, we will continue to work hard in training as a hybrid club where both male and female students, as well as international students, can all work hard together. Thank you for everyone’s support.

Team A, who achieved 3rd place!
