TUFS Student Chosen for Japan National Cheer Team, Wins World Championship

February 26, 2018

From Saturday the 11 th until Sunday the 12 th of November, the Japan National Mixed-Gender Cheer Team, which TUFS student Yuki Ueno (School of Language and Culture Studies, Spanish language studies, third year) was selected as a member for, competed in and won the 9 th World Cheerleading Championship held at the Takasaki Arena (Takasaki, Gunma Prefecture).

A Comment from Mr. Yuki Ueno

I had an amazing experience being selected as part of the Japanese international team and ultimately winning the championship. I would like to once again express my gratitude towards everyone who supported us. Thank you. Partly because this championship was held in Japan, many people came to the arena and encouraged us. Thank you very much.
Since team members were selected from universities all over Japan, everyone had different ways of doing things and there were many difficulties, but we supported and helped each other, even if sometimes this meant having to say harsh things to one another for the sake of improving the team. The road was hard and rough, but I am glad that we were all able to do our best in the final performance. I am so glad that our efforts paid off. The representative training camp was three months long, which felt shorter than it was, but what makes me the happiest is that I was able to make such good friends and comrades there.
I would like to thank my family, my friends, RAMS, and all persons concerned.

A video of the performance can be seen on YouTube.
