Lecture Series on International Standardisation Begins
July 7, 2017
On Wednesday 21 st June 2017, TUFS began a series of lectures on international standardisation (regulation strategy). For the first lecture, we welcomed Dr. Nomakuchi Tamotsu ( President and Chief Executive Officer of Mitsubishi Electric Corporation and President of the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology) as speaker, who delivered a lecture entitled 'The influence of International Standardisation (regulation strategy) on Japan's Future', covering the use of standardisation, examples from Mitsubishi electric, and the importance of expanding human resources.
This lecture, which was chaired by Mr. Iwasaki, Executive Director/ Vice President, was attended by a great many students despite heavy rain, and was followed by an active question and answer session.
'International Standardisation' refers to the establishing of universal standards in technology such as industrial standards, and the setting out of prerequisites for the diffusion and development of technology.
From here on, five universities in the Tama Area (The University of Electro-Communication, Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, Tokyo Gakugei University, Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology, Hitotsubashi University) will be forming links with the industrial sector, and TUFS will be holding lectures by global senior business managers (June - July), as well as an intensive course led by regulatory strategy experts (September) in order to promote the training of human resources in international standardisation.
Further details on the lecture and intensive course can be viewed here . (link in Japanese)
