Nelson Mandela Memorial Lecture Held on November 6th
November 12, 2014
On Thursday, November 6th, The ambassador of the Republic of South Africa, Dr. Mohau N PHEKO gave a lecture at Agora Global, and more than 100 TUFS students gathered at the venue.
This memorial lecture is part of lecture series organized by the Republic of South Africa’s government to honor feats achieved by Nelson Mandela, who passed away last December at the age of 95. The lectures have been held world wide.
Dr. Mohau talked about what is needed to be a what he calls an “authentic leader” by referring to Mandela’s accomplishments and his career. Showing some pictures of Mandela, Dr. Mohau revealed the former president’s prominent ability to establish fine relationships with others. Mandela tried to create a relaxing mood whenever he talked with others. Such traits reminded the audience of Mandela’s charm and openness. Like the former president, the lecture was full of humor and intelligence and provided us with a good opportunity to follow in his footsteps.
The lecture was followed by a question and answer session which was started by a question from a graduate. Current students also voluntarily asked questions.
