Karman Uribe of Basque, Spain, Presents a Lecture

On Tuesday, November 6, Karman Uribe, a prominent author in Basque literature, visited TUFS upon a special invitation, and presented a lecture, “Euskara to the World,” hosted by TUFS’ Research Centre for Comprehensive Culture, in Room 226 of the Main Lecture Building.
Mr. Uribe received the Spanish Critiques’ Award in the Basque Literature Division of the 2009 Spanish Writers’ Award for his work, “Bilbao New York Bilbao,” translated, published in October, by Nami Kaneko, a TUFS graduate student. He is a renowned author who is invited from various regions around the world to present lectures and recitals of literature. During his lecture this time at TUFS, Mr. Uribe spoke about the secrets leading to the creation of novels and poetry. Furthermore, he expressed about the view of the world from the perspective of Basque literature, with a taste of humor while doing so.
The attendees of Mr. Uribe’s lecture seemed intrigued by his unique way of speech, and his recital of Basque poetry.
