African Studies Center - TUFS (ASC-TUFS) will host the 65th ASC Seminar in collaboration with Kanto branch of Japan Association for African Studie. We invite Dr. Evariste Fongnzossie Fedoung from University of Douala, who will stay in Japan as our visiting associate professor until January 2022, as a speaker, and Dr. Ryo Kohsaka, a professor of Nagoya University Graduate School of Environmental Studies, as a commentator..

The lecture deals with Cameroon's recent strategy for ABS (Access and Benefit-sharing) policy. Dr. Fongnzossie will discuss how it can give a major impact on biodiversity-based value chains and research partnerships.

◆Abstract: Cameroon is endowed with abundant biological resources which are of great importance for achieving nearly all of the SDGs. The country's recent engagement in ABS policy as a strategy to find a compromise between access to genetic resources and the equitable sharing of benefits could potentially have a major impact on biodiversity-based value chains and research partnerships.
